What is the MoneyMagpie Marketplace?

The marketplace is a great tool for anyone who wants a simple way to sell online. Cut out using multiple services to buy, sell, and finding skilled services and find them all in one place here. You also know that anything you do buy through the marketplace is supporting fellow money magpies like you.

The Marketplace is an easier way for our MoneyMagpies to make money. Just set up a couple of listings, enter your bank details and you can start to see the money come in.

What Can I Sell on the Marketplace?

As long as it’s legal to sell in the UK, you can sell it on the MoneyMagpie Marketplace. The two options we have for sellers are either to sell a service or set up a “shop” to sell your products. Of course, you can do both if you want to. Plus, you can also set up multiple shops if you want to create different shops for different categories of products. Maybe you’re a keen craftist and could set up one shop selling your handmade items, then create another to sell secondhand items rediscovered in a clear out.

Creating a shop

It’s very simple to set up a virtual shop online with MoneyMagpie Marketplace.You can add as many listings to your shop as you like. A listing will stay live until you remove it, so if you have multiple copies of something you wish to sell, you can leave the listing up until they’ve all sold.

Creating each listing for your shop is very easy. Give it a name and a detailed description, adding up to 4 photos, too. What you choose to sell is completely up to you. Be it art prints, graphic designs, occasion cakes and bakes, second hand clothes, or used tech. Almost anything unwanted you find around the home can be sold for a bit of cash online!

Sell a Service

The other option is to sell services, although you can sell both products and services.

But you can list anything you want, even if it doesn’t fall directly into one of these categories. The services you offer can be anything from babysitting and dog walking into your free time, handyman and helping around the home, or if you’re a business professional with skills in a certain area, why not sell those? Plenty of freelancers and businesses need help with SEO, coding, content creating, content writing, website design, photography, editing, marketing… the list goes on!

But if you find yourself with a bit of free time, or looking for ways to make money why not have a brainstorm of areas you’re trained in or particular skills you have that you may be able to utilise to earn some cash.

Using the Marketplace Channels

We’ve set up different categories, or channels, on the MoneyMagpie Marketplace to make it easier to buy and sell particular items. If you have something particular in mind, or just want to have a browse, you can find things easily and look at a range of products in various categories.

At the moment for selling services we have 4 main categories:

• Health, Beauty and Fitness
• Business Services
• Help Around the Home; and
• Classes and Online Learning

And for selling products, your listings can be divided into the following:

• Handmade Art and Crafts
• VHS Tapes, CDs, and DVDs
• Old and Unwanted Tech
• Secondhand and Vintage Clothing; and
• The Kitchen Sink for Everything Else

As a seller, the channels can help you earn more. By making sure you select the appropriate categories when creating a listing will enable people to find what you’re selling with ease. You also want to make sure you include as much detail as possible in your listings. The better your description and photos of your product, the more likely you are to make a sale.

Costings and Commissions

As a seller on the MoneyMagpie Marketplace, every listing is free to post. There’s a commission of 8% on every purchase, but you’ll only need to pay it when you make a sale so you’ll never be losing out. However, at the moment to celebrate the launch of the Marketplace, the first 50 sellers will not have pay any fees for 3 months! The only charge will be from the payment platform we use, Stripe, who charge a fee of 1.4% + £0.20 per transaction to process it. Unfortunately, this fee sits with Stripe and not us, so we can’t change it.

However, as well as this bonus for sellers, we’re also giving away a £5 discount to the first 50 buyers of their first purchases. Once you’ve made the transaction all you need to do is email a copy of your receipt to editorial@ moneymagpie.com and we’ll issue you with your refund straight away.
